Of all the movies made about Ebenezer Scrooge, the miser in Charles Dickens‘
novel, A Christmas Carol, this 1951 British film is the best. Directed by Brian Desmond Hurst, it stars Alastair Sim, Hermione Baddeley and Kathleen Harrison. Patrick MacNee of the original Avengers TV series series has a tiny role. See if you recognize him.
My husband and I have watched this film together every Christmas season for many years. Thanks to YouTube, we can share it.
Sit back, pass the wassail, and have a Merry Christmas… “in keeping with the situation.”
Merry Christmas. and thanks for the mention of Patrick MacNee, he’s one of my favorites.
I was surprised when I saw his name in the credits, and had to go back through the film to find him. Merry Christmas, Louise!
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you, Coleen!
I have to agree, the 1951 version is the best. We watch it several times each year.
Merry Christmas

And here Raphael and I thought we were the only ones who knew about it!
Hey, I’m almost done with Novan Witch. Hope, A Simple Twist of Fate and Incoming are lined up behind it on my Kindle (http://bit.ly/o07Jgq). Woman, you are prolific!
You and K have a great Christmas and New Year with many more to come.
Sally
Merry Christmas, Sally! I like just about every version of A Christmas Carol, including this one, but my all time favorite is the musical version with Albert Finney. I also enjoyed An American Christmas Carol with Henry Winkler. But I’m afraid the only one we have in the house is the one with George C. Scott. I’ll have to see what YouTube has to offer.
Hi, Kristy. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great holiday.
