I was born on Manhattan and grew up on Long Island, where most of my summers were spent at Jones Beach. After two years at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, I returned to Long Island and finished a B.A. in Art (minors in English and Russian) at SUNY Stony Brook. My first real job was in New York City, in the advertising department of Grumbacher, the art materials manufacturer. That’s where I learned about publishing in the days when everything was done by hand. Since then, my jobs and most of my leisure activities have involved some type of publishing or writing. I’ve taught writing at the University of Baltimore, where I earned an M.A. in Publications Design-Creative Writing and Publishing, and co-founded the literary journal, Passager. I’ve also lived in California, where I worked part time for a literary agency. As my day job, I’m senior copy editor on a medical journal. My fantastic kids are grown now. My husband and I were lucky enough to discover the Texas Hill Country, where we’ve finally settled down and hope to live happily ever after.
